![]() I’d love it if they bring back the RPG mechanic from AC3 to future games, with branching parts and multiple endings. It’s near futuristic yet still somewhat grounded in reality. I think Ace Combat X did it best when combining both elements together. I really like futuristic planes, don’t get me wrong, but the main charm of AC to me is being able to experience a world similar to our own, flying real life planes. Personally, I really like it more if Ace Combat is more grounded to reality with real life planes and a few fictional ones to make them really stand out. I also like how many fictional aircraft looks in this game.īut to be honest, that’s about it. It’s basically an RPG in arcade flight sim form, and I really love that. I liked the mechanics of AC3.how you can choose how the story goes, which side you’re on, who lives or who dies, based on your decisions in story. Does anyone else agree? Why was 3 so good, and will they ever make something like 3 again? The futuristic and concept aircraft was something very fascinating and I loved they put in ridiculous 7 to 9th generation aircraft. Now I'm on 4 and the tone is completely different and is kind of a rough start from how different yet amazing 3 was, but I've only made 4 missions in so far. And then when I found out AC3 is essentially the Matrix I truly fell in love with this game. The futurism, aircraft, environments and some of the soundtrack actually convincing me was great, especially that one level where there is a destroyed abandoned city with eerie music playing in the background, god I loved that. ![]() At the moment, 3 is my favorite Ace Combat game. Was this a new universe, I thought? And then I kept playing, and was slowly starting to adjust and actually starting to like 3.Īnd then I started to really like it a lot. I even felt the graphics were a weird downgrade and the soundtrack was just downright unusual, and I was confused by the plot as none of what was being told was in 2 or 1 (I jumped straight into 3 without knowing the lore of it). And then I jumped on 3.Īt first, I was not very appealed by 3 and was thrown off by the new camera rotation thing but I knew it had to come sooner or later. 1 set the tone for me, 2 was very different but I was able to keep up with it despite being pretty short for me. But before I got any further in the game I decided I wanted to really learn about the lore of this series, so I grabbed some emulators and played through 1-3, currently on 4 right now. ![]() It wasn't until this summer I actually started to get around playing this series, and admittedly got right down to playing Ace Combat 7.Įven though at that time I knew nothing about the lore, something about the game was just absolutely astonishing! The skies, the colors and the music was godly, sounding like something that belongs in a movie. Many years ago I got drawn to Ace Combat when Assault Horizon first came out and watched gameplay of the first mission in the game, and I remembered being fascinated by the highly explosive soundtrack and at the time, what I thought was an amazing way to simulate dogfighting (yes, I am aware AH is bad lol). There is also an autopilot feature which can be used to land or reach a destination. So I'm pretty new to the Ace Combat series. ![]() A special catch is that the player often has to make decisions during missions which influence the overall storyline. The game has many environments which range from normal aerial missions to stratospheric missions and even outer space missions. The player can earn ratings from A to D: the higher the rating, the higher the chance that the player can acquire new kinds of planes. taking out a special aircraft carrier or taking out enemy satellite systems in orbit around earth. In Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere the player takes the place of an ace fighter pilot who works for an organization called "UPEO" and has to accomplish various missions, e.g.

![]() Although I wouldn't describe this game as extremely easy, it's certainly fun, and it brings out the competitive spirit in people, that's probably why there was a tournament: that's nearly over now, though, and I got knocked out, but that won't stop me continuing to play this excellent game, however much I lose at it. As for tournaments, the only one I know about was organised by someone I follow on Twitter: I don't think there are official Lost Cities tournaments, just private ones organised by groups of players who want to do that. I only know one way of cancelling a move, and that is, when you double-tap the card, hit Cancel in the little menu which appears, which also includes "Discard, and often Play if the card is high enough. VoiceOver Accessibility in this game is excellent: the only bug I've found is that, when you draw a card from a discard pile, VO reads your opponent's previous move, but things get back to normal if you go out of the game screen and come back in. Hi! I'm a big Lost Cities fan myself, and I thoroughly enjoy playing it, mostly against humans, but I have occasionally played against computer opponents. I also liked the fact that the draw pile was really easy to find sinse it was at the bottom right hand corner, which sped the game up nicely.Īll in all a very fun and strategic card game that I think will more than justify the princely some of two pounds sixty I paid for it, and something I'd recommend to anyway. Thus sometimes, i'd play a card and wonder if I'd not played it correctly sinse it was still apparently in my hand, and it didn't get played until I picked up another card. ![]() The only thing I found a little confusing was understanding the turn order, sinse if you select a card to play or discard, it doesn't actually leave your hand until you pickup a card from either the draw pile or one of the discard piles. A game that I, a vo novice can pick up and play just with basic gestures (sandra is dead right that everything can be done with flicks and double taps), indeed play rather successfully! If "accessabler" was a cromulant word, i'd say there is nothing "accessibler" than this. I buy an Iphone 5 on wednesday night, I finally! get through the apple id shenanigans on thursday at 5.pm, i buy lost cities, and within five minutes I know the games' interface, and within half an hour I win my first match against the easiest computer opponent. Tl dr: Anyone have suggestions for decent, affordable masthead-appropriate anemometers and vanes that don't come with the added cost of proprietary gauges since I already have analog gauges available? What I want to know is if anyone has experience buying a low ish (not quite el cheapo Amazon) cost replacement/standalone sensor anemometer or vane for their masthead. I've looked it up and it seems there are a plethora of available sensors out there at all price ranges with the right outputs, and voltages can easily be modified with resistors on a new PCB that would be pennies. Our other boat (C&C24) has squat for instruments. Both analogs have the typical analog inputs - voltage from what is effectively a tiny generator at the top of the mast for the anemometer, and five leads for the direction sensor. We have an old but functional RayMarine system that replaced them before the time of the co-op. Our bigger boat (Catalina 30) has two old, disused analog instruments for windspeed and direction. I have already done some other weird DIY sensor stuff (rebuilding an old 4-stroke gas tach to appropriately display RPM on an old inboard diesel). ![]() I am one of the people in charge of maintenance in a sailing co-op with a very limited budget. Our issue is that Mission Planner does not seem to output the corresponding values (wind direction fluctuates randomly between 0 and 360, whether the anemometer is plugged in or not) and rpm1 continues to be at either 0 or -1 (the wind velocity tab is unresponsive as well).I am not quite as crazy as the title will imply. When connected to the Pixhawk, a multimeter shows the correct potentiometer voltage response to wind vane movement. All of our connections seem to work when using an Arduino. We decided to power and ground through the servo rail instead, as we found that the voltage supplied by the ADC was rather unstable. WNDVN_DIR_PIN = 15 (Pixhawk Cube ADC signal input)Īll relay pins are set to -1 to disable them.Īs for our connections, we have wind speed (digital) connected to AUX 6 and wind speed (analog) connected to the ADC port. We currently have these parameters set in Mission Planner: We were able to calibrate the wind vane after checking the messages tab, but the calibrated max voltage is 2 times (5.8 V) what we are measuring with our multimeter (2.9 V) on the output of the wind vane. So that is just a matter of working out the units to convert itĮdit: that seems like quite a nice unit, maybe one you have it working you could provide some pics and the parameters you ended up with and we could add it to the wiki in your link it gives:Īccording to the Davis Anemometer technical document 1 mile per hour is equal to 1600 revolutions per hour. And calculate the appropriate RPM scaling factor to get the wind speed in meter per second. Then you just have to change WNDVN_SPEED_TYPE to 3. ![]() Then you should see the rpm value changing in mission planner as you spin the cups, you can double click on one of the things in the quick tab to change it to rpm1 And you will have to check you RELAY_PIN, RELAY_PIN2 ect are not set to 55 so the pin is free to use for rpm ![]() I would suggest pin 6, this would be:īRD_PWM_COUNT will have to be 5 or less, i think its 4 by default so leave it at that. For the speed you will have to connect to an aux port pin. That sounds good, you might have to check if the ADC is rated for 5v, it could be 3.3v only, i can’t remember. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated! We were thinking of connecting the wind direction analog output along with power and ground to the ADC port, but are unsure of how to also connect the digital wind speed output as well.
